The Hotel

Slow mornings, deep sleeps, and rooms made for the long Finnish night.

Sisu Royale is a 112-room four-star hotel that takes its cues from Finland's quietest, most beautiful moments. Our rooms are dressed in pale wood, brushed metal, and woven textiles sourced from small mills in the south of Finland. Windows are large. Beds are wide and dressed in heavy linen that softens the street noise. Bathrooms are made of warm stone and rainfall showers, with locally milled soaps that smell faintly of pine and birch. We do not believe in spectacle. We believe in a glass of water on the night stand, blackout curtains that actually work, and a front desk that remembers your name after the second visit. From the compact Comfort rooms of the upper floors to the panoramic Aurora Suites on the seventh, every space at Sisu Royale is shaped around the idea that comfort is a long, quiet conversation, not a single loud gesture.

Rooms, suites, and a long list of small kindnesses.

Our accommodations fall into four families. The Comfort rooms are ideal for the solo traveller or the working guest who needs a calm base, with a writing desk and a fast fibre connection. The Superior rooms face the cathedral and the market square, and are dressed in the heavier linens that suit a cold Helsinki night. The Executive floor sits on the fifth level with its own quiet lounge, espresso bar, and meeting nooks β€” a small hotel within a hotel for guests who would like to work between meetings. Finally, the Aurora Suites on the seventh floor open onto private terraces with views over the rooftops; in winter, the aurora is sometimes visible from bed.

Every room includes a stocked minibar with Finnish craft beverages, a curated reading shelf featuring writers from Mika Waltari to Rosa Liksom, and a small welcome plate of Karelian pasties and smoked salmon prepared by our kitchen. Our housekeeping team works quietly and twice a day. Turn-down service includes a small printed card with the next day's weather, sunrise time, and β€” in winter β€” the aurora forecast for that night. We do not consider these details. We consider them part of the room.

The Casino

A locally licensed casino β€” calm, considered, and entirely on this side of the law.

Sisu Royale operates a fully licensed casino under Finnish regulation. The casino floor is open daily, hosts a curated selection of slot machines, electronic tables, and traditional table games, and is reserved for guests aged 18 and over. Our casino team is trained not only in fair play but in quiet hospitality β€” the goal is for you to enjoy a measured evening of entertainment, in a space where every staff member knows the rules and is happy to explain them. We do not run an online casino. We do not advertise to minors. We do not extend credit. We do not sell alcohol to intoxicated guests on the gaming floor. These are not slogans; they are the legal requirements we work under, and we take them seriously.

On the gaming floor

The Sisu Royale casino floor covers 1,400 square metres on the second level of the building. You will find 140 slot machines, 24 electronic table stations, twelve live table games including roulette, blackjack, and baccarat, and a high-limit room open to guests who would prefer a quieter evening. The floor is air-conditioned, sound treated, and lit for long sessions without eye fatigue. Drinks are served at the table on request; non-alcoholic options are always available. Photography is not permitted on the gaming floor.

Hours, dress, and entry

The casino is open daily from 16:00 to 04:00, with a one-hour closure between 04:00 and 05:00 for the daily compliance reset. Entry is free for hotel guests aged 18 or over on presentation of a valid photo ID. Smart casual dress is requested; we ask guests not to wear sportswear, workwear, or open-toed footwear on the floor. The casino team may ask any guest to leave at any time, without explanation, in line with our licence conditions.

Player card

The Sisu Royale Player Card is free of charge. Points can be redeemed for meals, drinks, hotel nights, and spa treatments. Application takes five minutes at the floor host desk.

Groups & events

The high-limit room can be reserved for private groups of up to 12 guests, with a dedicated host, customised cocktails, and a small tasting menu from the restaurant below.

The Restaurant

A traditional Finnish kitchen, told with the season in mind.

The restaurant at Sisu Royale is a calm, wood-panelled room on the ground floor, with linen-dressed tables and a glass-fronted kitchen. The kitchen is led by Chef Aino Lehtinen, who trained in Turku and Lyon before returning to Helsinki to build a menu rooted in the produce of the Finnish forest, lake, and farm. We cook with what is in season: whitefish and vendace in late summer, root vegetables and game in autumn, reindeer and smoked ham at Christmas, and the first green herbs of the year as soon as the ice thaws. Our pantry is small and slow. Our smokehouse is in the basement. Our bread is baked in-house before service.

The menu, the season, the table.

Our Γ  la carte menu changes four times a year, in step with the Finnish seasons. In spring, we lean on wild greens, the first whitefish of the season, and new potatoes from the Γ…land Islands. Summer brings bright berries, dill, and cold soups; our terrace opens for long evenings under a sky that never quite goes dark. Autumn is the great Finnish pantry season β€” mushrooms, root vegetables, elk, and the first smoked hams of the year. Winter belongs to reindeer, salted whitefish, and slow, long braises; in the deepest weeks of January we serve a six-course tasting menu called Kaamos, after the polar night.

Vegetarian and vegan menus are offered every day, with the same care as the main menu. Our cellar leans on smaller Finnish producers alongside classic European regions β€” Burgundies from smaller domaines, German Rieslings, and a small but considered list of natural wines from the Nordic countries. The bar team prepares the usual classics alongside a Finnish list of seasonal cocktails built around cloudberry, sea buckthorn, Arctic birch, and the spirits of small Lapland distilleries.

Signature dishes

Smoked whitefish from Lake Saimaa, reindeer saddle with juniper jus, Karelian stew with butter-basted root vegetables, and the warm cloudberry tart that closes most tables.

Cellar & bar

180 bins, half from small Finnish and Nordic producers, half from the classic regions. Cocktails built around cloudberry, sea buckthorn, and Arctic birch.

Private dining

The cellar room seats 18 for tastings, family tables, and small corporate dinners. A five-course menu and a guided flight can be arranged with the sommelier team.
